Veranum Active C 25% Vitamin C Ampoule — Korean Brightening Serum for Dark Spots, Firming & Even Tone (Non-Irritating, Stabilized Vitamin C)

My skin dries out in the winter and I don't like using oily creams. It's hard to discuss any long-term results, but after a week or so of daily use, my skin feels soft and more hydrated after using this serum. Application is pretty easy with the included dropper nozzle, then I just rub it in. It has a little more viscosity than water, but absorbs in after several minutes, and doesn't leave me feeling oily or gross. It feels to be made of quality ingredients. I wouldn't necessarily say my skin is brighter after the short-term use of this product, but it hasn't hurt either, and I am less dry, so I would say it is effective in battling the effects of winter weather on my skin. I was not using any other products at all during the trial of this serum. I also had no reaction, redness or irritation when using it.

I deal with hyperpigmentation from old (and current!) cystic acne. Vitamin C serums have been a staple of my skincare routine, since they are both effective and less harsh for my skin than retinoids. This Veranum vitamin C ampoule is great both by itself and in conjunction with other products (such as Veranum's other serums/ampoules, or your own preferred moisturizers/exfoliants). This has been gentle on my skin, and has kept my skin in problem areas (to either side of my mouth) looking clear and less dark from scarring. My only critique is the dispensing and bottle. Like other Veranum products I've tried, this is packaged in a pharmaceutical-looking bottle with an airtight aluminum cap. This cap is unusually difficult to remove - mine tore while trying, and I had to use needle nose pliers to fully remove it. It's also pretty sharp if the aluminum tears. Since preventing oxygen exposure is really important for vitamin C products, this cap makes sense for long term storage, I get it, but the pull tab needs improvement. After opening, there's also a rubber stopper and then the "nozzle" dispensing cap. There's no instructions on how to use these - the rubber stopper doesn't fit tightly enough to really seal it from air, and the dispensing tube needs a little trial and error to use. Ultimately, I would highly recommend decanting the whole vial into a vacuum pump bottle immediately after opening to make dispensing easier and prevent further oxygen exposure.

My skin tends to be on the dry side, and I didn’t find this serum to dry it out even more. I didn’t experience any irritation or redness, but to be honest, I typically would only put on some toning balm and moisturizer along with this. I know certain skincare / anti-aging potion ingredients can interfere with each other, and since I’m never sure what combination will set that off, I tend to play it safe. Perhaps if I added more K-beauty product steps, I’d have incredibly radiant skin, but there are just so many, I get overwhelmed. I was using a more expensive vitamin c serum before this, which really brightened my skin. This one isn’t AS effective , but I think it’s still doing some work.

I have always somewhat avoided vitamin c because they have all beeen very drying to just too harsh. This is different! It’s packed with active ingredients that haven’t irritated or dried my skin out at all. I actually stopped using my other serums while testing this one and I haven’t started using any of them again yet! This product is a little on the thicker side, not watery, but it absorbs beautifully without any sticky residue or heaviness. Glowy skin, free of irritation and free radicals!
